Just to say we're sorry
For the black eyes and bleeding lips
When it's hard to forget
How many lies we've told

NAME: Helena Catherine Campbell
NICKNAME(s): Helena, Bambino
NAME ORIGIN: HELENA Latinate form of HELEN, which is the English form of the Greek ‘Ελενη (Helene), probably from Greek ‘ελενη (helene) "torch" or "corposant", or possibly related to σεληνη (selene) "moon".
CATHERINE French form of KATHERINE, which is from the Greek name Αικατερινη (Aikaterine). The etymology is debated: it could derive from the earlier Greek name ‘Εκατερινη (Hekaterine), which came from ‘εκατερος (hekateros) "each of the two"; it could derive from the name of the goddess HECATE; it could be related to Greek αικια (aikia) "torture"; or it could be from a Coptic name meaning "my consecration of your name". In the early Christian era it became associated with Greek καθαρος (katharos) "pure", and the Latin spelling was changed from Katerina to Katharina to reflect this.
BIRTHDAY: February 14th.
AGE: Seventeen.
HANDWRITING: HERE.
MANNER OF SPEECH: Helena's voice holds a thick English accent, it's rather defiant in ways. When getting upset, Helena's voice gets a bit shrill, and clipped. When upset a lot of self doubt wraps up in her words.

Or how old we'd go
Before I said goodbye
So let's scrape our knees on the playground

HEIGHT: 5' 2"
WEIGHT: 123 lbs.
BUILD: Slender, an acrobats build.
EYES: Hazel.
HAIRS: Brown
DRESS STYLE: Eh, nothing too fashionable. Helena is happy in a pair of jeans and a zip up hoodie.
POSSESSIONS: A really useful book, the pages all torn out, and just the front cover and back cover remain. A set of glowing juggling balls. A charcoal set. inside an empty cigar box.

It's not your fault
You feel okay
It's too late in the day
It's not your fault
You feel betrayed
You can't come out to play

HOME: Mobile, Vagabond. Birthplace: London, England.
PARENTS: Joanne Campbell (Mother), Morris Campbell (father)
SIBLINGS: N/A
FINANCIAL STATUS: Nothing to brag about.
HISTORY: Helena grew up in a rather... unique family. Her father following his dreams started a travelling circus with his wife Joanne. Despite living in a world what many other children dream of, Helena was far from happy. All she truly wanted was to live in the real world. Her mother constantly reminding her that children usually run away to join a circus... Helena's retort was usually "I want to run away to join the REAL WORLD".

It was after one very serious fight during opening night in Scotland's country side did Helena's world turn upside down for the worst. After a rather nasty fight about not being ready on time, exhausted from fighting, Joanne walked away saying. "You're going to be the death of me..." In which Helena retorted with a harsh, "I wish I was..." During that night's show, Joanne collapses and is sent to the hospital. Ten days later, Helena learns from her father that Joanne has to undergo an operation. Helena blames herself.

Falling into a fit of depression, Helena dreamt up the worse for her mother, and in an act of desperation took a handful of her nan's blood pressure pills, hoping to never wake up...

Which was almost true. As her body began to shut down from the over dose, Helena fell into a coma that night. Within her mind she see's herself waking up after a strange dream, and sneaks out of the family apartment to see a masked man playing a violin. Nearby are two other masked men who are trying to juggle. Suddenly a shadow "consumes" the violin player and one of the jugglers. Helena flees from the danger with one of the other masked men, who introduces himself as Valentine.

Valentine leads Helena to the City of Light, where they see many unusual citizens leaving the city because of the Shadows that are consuming it. Helena is mistaken by the royal guards as a "Princess", and she is forcefully taken to the Palace of Light. At one point during her transportation, Helena looks into a house window and sees herself sleeping in her room, which makes her believe that she is still dreaming.

At the palace, she meets the Prime Minister, who can see that she is not the "Princess". The Prime Minister explains that there are two kingdoms: the City of Light and the Land of Shadow, both of which have their own queens. Three days prior, the Princess from the Land of Shadow arrived at the City of Light. Despite a warm welcome, the Princess stole their "charm" and fled in secret, leaving the White Queen in an unnatural sleep and the City of Light vulnerable to the Shadows. Helena decides to help them find the charm.

Recruiting a reluctant Valentine, Helena starts following clues throughout the city to find the charm, which she learns is the "MirrorMask". All the while, the pair have to elude the Shadows and other dangerous creatures. Unknown to Helena, the Dark Queen is also hunting her, thinking that she is the Princess who has run away.

At certain points, Helena looks into other windows, and instead of seeing herself asleep as she thought she would, she sees a doppelganger arguing with her father, smoking, and later making out with someone Helena disapproves of. When Helena yells through the window, the doppelganger "sees" her, prompting Helena to quickly hide.

Helena's search leads her to a small white building on the border between the City of Light and the Land of Shadow. Inside the building are hundreds of locks, one of which should reveal the MirrorMask. Before Helena can start trying the locks, she is betrayed by Valentine to the Dark Queen. Helena is hypnotized to think of herself as the Princess, and forgets her mission.

Valentine eventually has a change of heart, and secretly returns to the white building where he tries all the locks. He finds the right one, but is dismayed when its contents turn out to be a letter from the real Princess, announcing her theft of the MirrorMask. Valentine returns to the Dark Palace and apologizes to Helena, whom he helps remember who she is.

A recovered Helena and Valentine go into the Princess' room and discuss the information they have. Helena remembers that Joanna had always told her that when she's looking for something, it's very often staring at her right in the face. Helena looks at the Princess' mirror, and when she dips her face in it, the MirrorMask is revealed.

Helena and Valentine flee from the Dark Palace with the Dark Queen in pursuit. Helena now knows that the Princess has taken her place in the real world, and in order to set things right, she has to wear the MirrorMask and look at the Princess. It is also revealed the City of Light and Land of Shadows exist in Helena's drawings that are pasted on her room wall in the real world, and the Princess is methodically destroying these drawings.

Helena needs to find a window immediately, but the Princess destroys the last drawing and has apparently won. Standing on the apartment roof, the Princess throws the destroyed drawings in the air, but when she turns, the door slams shut to reveal another drawing on the door itself, and Helena waiting for her in it. Despite the Princess' protests, Helena puts the MirrorMask on.

Helena wakes up in a hospital with her family sitting around as well as all the members of the circus. After learning she was in a coma from taking her nan's medication, her mother and father both agree that perhaps it's best for Helena to stay and get help from doctors. However, the doctors in Scotland cannot help her in mental health issues, and send her to a well known hospital in New England, in the United States, known as Cheshire Crossings.

I never listened to a word you never said
Wasting the hours now
We're all suckers for tragedies
And start this over again
And you bring us to our knees

PERSONALITY: Helena is very much a forth right, and take charge kind of girl. She's very independant, growing up in a family where you had to look out for yourself she rarely relies on others for help. Helena also holds the stereotypical teen angst, wishing to be left alone and not bothered with responsibility, yet still complaining she has no freedom.
OUTWARDLY: Never one to hold back an opinion or a biased, she tells it like it is, without acknowledging common courtesies. She has been known for being rather nosy, but that's just from her natural curiousity for the world, and everything it has to offer. Helena is very much a ‘says it how she sees it’ kinda girl in the way she has never been known to hold her tongue, which has often gotten her in trouble. She is good natured, funny and is always there to cheer her friends up when they are feeling down. She has a very caring side to her, but this is only seen by her closest of friends. Her comments in her mind aren’t meant to be amusing, yet some how people just find them funny, which in turn makes her laugh just for being able to make others happy.
INWARDLY: Helena is very sweet and friendly with an over emotional, argumentative side that only seems to come out when she's talking about something she is very passionate about doesn't matter to whom. She's very protective of her friends and cares deeply for those she is close to, even if her relationships tend to be one sided or could be considered obsessive.
FIRST IMPRESSION: She doesn't LOOK like she belongs in a circus.
QUIRKS/HABITS/MANNERISMS: The girl is always seen with her sketch book.
LIKES: juggling, dark colors, drawing, making up stories.
DISLIKES: lying, betrayal, ice cream, being told what to do.
STRENGHTS: Helena is very much a leader, she is level headed, and manages to think things through before acting. She's good at solving hard questions with unique answers.
WEAKNESSES: Helena has a hidden rage within her, when triggered she can get very defensive, and obtuse.

As sunrise comes
And the story will sell
There'll be a hundred papers
So we'll follow you up

DISORDERS: Delusional Disorder, Depersonalization disorder, Schizotypal personality disorder
SYMPTOMS: Delusional Disorder - Helena experiences a heightened sense of self-reference. Events which, to others, are nonsignificant are of enormous significance to him or her, and the atmosphere surrounding the delusions is highly charged. The girl believes in a fantasy land where she went to when she OD'd on her nan's pills.
Depersonalization Disorder - Helena holds all the classic symptoms: Flavor of meals no longer gives a feeling of pleasure or distaste, Smell of things no longer gives feeling of pleasure or dislike. Feeling of being a detached observer of oneself. Feeling of being outside the body. Urge to touch oneself to be reassured of bodily existence, body feels very light, as if it were floating on air. See oneself outside, as if looking in a mirror. Surroundings feel detached or unreal. Things look flat, as if looking at a picture. When in a new situation, feeling as if it had happened before. Recently done things feel as if they took place a long time ago. Personal memories feel as if one had not been involved in them. Feeling unreal or cutoff from the world. Body feels as if it didn't belong to oneself. Not feeling frightened in normally frightening situations. Favorite activities no longer enjoyable. Previously familiar places look unfamiliar.
Schizotypal personality disorder - Helena behaves oddly and has unusual beliefs, which she clings to so strongly that it isolates her from normal relationships. Helena clings to the fact that when she was acting out in the past it was no her, but actually a princess from a land known for it's darkness, and shadows. With people constantly doubting her she has become chronically discomforted by her own dimishing ability to make people believe her.
INROVERT/EXTROVERT: Depends on the situation.
PESSIMIST/OPTIMIST: Depends on the situation, she tends to be a pessimist most of the time, always thinking of worse case scenerios.

EYESIGHT: Perfect.
HEARING: Perfect.
LEFT/RIGHT/AMBI: Ambidexterous.

STORYLINES:
(These are just a few ideas for SLs, if you have any suggestions or requests, please comment below!)

THE VALENTINE: [info]vinnievalentine :: THE VALENTINE is a potential love interest for Helena. This man is a mystery to her, he's a bit arrogant, and self centered, but underneath all that is a truly good friend. He can be honest, loyal, and a good companion in times of trouble. THE VALENTINE is also a bit of comedic relief in stressful situations.

THE QUEEN OF SHADOWS: [info]open [Female preferably] :: THE QUEEN OF SHADOWS is an enemy of sorts. Despite the fact that Helena doesn't really fear her, THE QUEEN OF SHADOWS is one someone that Helena does not enjoy being around. She is ignorant of other people's needs, she is closed minded, and self absorbed and not willing to change her ways no matter how much it is hurting others.

THE QUEEN OF LIGHT: [info]notamother :: THE QUEEN OF LIGHT is a maternal figure for Helena, slowly guiding her to do right and helping her in her darkest times. THE QUEEN OF LIGHT is the complete opposite of the Queen of Shadows. She is kind, forgiving, and understanding.

THE REALLY USEFUL BOOK: : [info]open [Male or Female] :: THE REALLY USEFUL BOOK is just what it sounds like, a very useful book. They have all the answers to any problem that occurs, perhaps given in a code that forces Helena to stop and think, but still in the end they are very useful. THE REALLY USEFUL BOOK is also very brave, willing to sacrifice themself for the sake of being REALLY USEFUL.

THE SPHINX: [info]open [Male or Female, open for multiple roles] :: THE SPHINX are nasty little creatures, or people in this case. They are incredibly needy and enjoy harassing Helena to no end. THE SPHINX are rather terrifying to Helena too, they are unpredictable and like to swarm.

THE BOBS: [info]open [Male or Female, open for multiple roles] :: THE BOBS are an amusing bunch to Helena, they are incredibly handy to have around. They are like the protectors to her. THE BOBS are willing to sacrifice themselves to save Helena from danger, they are reliable, and very creative.

THE MALCOLM: [info]open [Male or female] :: THE MALCOLM holds a special place in Helena's heart, THE MALCOLM is just like the Bobs only this person breaks off from the rest of the group. THE MALCOLM can be considered Helena's own personal body guard, this person helps Helena specifically in her most direst times of need. Helena recognizes THE MALCOLM from the rest of the Bobs due to the fact that THE MALCOLM upon meeting Helena distinguished themselves from the rest of the Bobs.

THE ORBITING GIANTS: [info]open [Male or Female, open for TWO roles] :: THE ORBITING GIANTS are two very curious people. They are incredibly intelligent and hold vast knowledge of the world, however attempting to extract information from them is like trying to pull teeth. THE ORBITING GIANTS maybe helpful in the end, but attempting to get to the help is a task in itself. Helena doesn't enjoy their company too much, but knows that it is a necessity to tolerate them.
